- Caput succedaneum occurs when the scalp is swollen and discolored following vaginal delivery.

- Scalp swelling on the initial portion of the head during vaginal delivery. The swelling may cross the midline
- Bluish, discoloration of scalp

- It is caused by
mechanical injury of the head during delivery.

 |
- It usually requires no treatment.
|

- None: It heals spontaneously.

 |
- Swelling will spontaneously reduce within 48-72 hours.
