The breasts
contain ducts that normally carry milk to the nipples. Small
benign tumors may form inside these ducts called intraductal
papillomas, causing blockage during lactation and general
discomfort. These tumors or papillomas are not thought to
increase the risk of developing breast
cancer.

- Watery nipple discharge
- Occasional bloody nipple discharge
- Mass (lump) may be
present
|
 |
- Cytological examination of discharge -- check cells in discharge for cancer
- Duct excision (removal) and
examination by a
pathologist
|
 |
- Surgical excision as above
- The most important issue is to rule
out intraductal cancer, which can have identical
symptoms.
