- Specific gravity: 1.025-1.032
- Osmolality: > 800 mOsm/kg
|

- To diagnose diabetes inspidus (DI)
- To assess the kidney's ability to concentrate urine based on extracellular fluid load
- If there is no change in urine osmolality, the diagnosis is DI.

|
- Noncompliance with fluid restrictions
- Inability to complete test because of hypovolemia
- Glucosuria
- Administration of radiopaque dyes within 7 days
