Description

The rate at which a woman recovers after delivery, feels less discomfort, and has the ability to be active differs from person to person.

Bathing

  • A tub bath is prohibited when there are dark red or brown secretions. Before taking a tub bath, receive a doctor's permission at the 6-week examination.
  • Taking a simple shower with warm water or washing the hair right after childbirth is relaxing and helps maintain cleanliness.
  • After delivery, blood vessels in the gums bleed and become inflamed easily. Use a soft brush and do not brush too hard.

    Temperature

  • Many mothers are cold and shiver for 1 to 2 hours after childbirth. This phenomenon occurs because heat leaves with the baby, placenta, and amniotic fluid, and metabolism decreases.
  • Profuse sweating can cause a metabolic disorder. It is good to maintain a proper warm temperature.

    Dizziness After Childbirth

  • Shock or similar symptoms often occur after childbirth because changes in blood electrolytes, blood volume, and hormone metabolism cause blood pressure to drop.
  • The mother must be stabilized after giving birth, and should be helped getting up and walking. If the dizziness is severe, it is advisable to use the bathroom while lying down.
  • Recovery should not be rushed; usually it takes 1 day after normal delivery, and 2-3 days after cesarean section. Overstraining can cause the mother to fall or even cause a heart attack.
